This one is a little personal, but I felt the need to share and so I pray that God will use my experiences for His glory to help someone.
I stood in my bathroom gazing out the window contemplating why it is that some of us have to work so hard and still barely make ends meet while other seem to fly through without any problems. Someone once told me that if Jesse and I were not a blessing to other then we would continue to be unblessed. I found this to be a little funny myself. This person is a little clueless about belssings. By this I mean, she was talking about our financial situation, but what she did not realize is that, though we do not have a new house or car or money in bank, we are blessed beyond measure. We have something in this family that some people never have. Jesse and I love each other and have a wonderful (though not perfect by any means) relationship, we have three wonderful boys that we love more than anything, we have food on our table and a roof over our heads. We love God and He always provides for our needs. Satan sends people like this into our lives to make us doubt God's goodness. The converstaion with her usually pops into my head if I am thinking and struggling with our money situation. It is Satan's will that I doubt my God.
As I stand looking at the beautiful day outside and wondering about our struggles and this persons words about blessings pop into my head, I ask God "why?". I tell God that I do know how blessed I am, and that I love my life, but why do we have to struggle sooooo hard to just barely make ends meet? Then a thought comes to me. I am reading a devotional called Hinds Feet in High Places. It is a wonderful devotional about a girl who is very afraid of everything. God wants to take her to a very special place, but to get there she must trust God with all of her heart and go through many struggles to get there. Her jouney to the High Places mirrors our journey through this life. Just as He is with her every step of the way, He is also with us. Our struggles are what teaches us to rely on Him. I believe that as Christians God puts us through these struggles for a reason, so that we can form a closer relationship with God and to become just like Jesus.
As we go through any struggle, big or small, calling on God should be our first response to the situation. We should begin our day submitting our needs and our day to God.
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard you hearts and minds through Jesus Christ - Philippians 4:6-7
