Ok so, first off these are just my thoughts. Please let me know if you have other thoughts. I am not about to profess that I know very much at all. I am a Christian that is trying to learn as much as I can with God's help :).
Wow what an amazing thing happened to me last night! My wonderful husband and I were lying in bed talking; I love this time with him, just me and him, no kids, no phones ringing, no TV or computers, no interruptions. So last night he asks the BIG question.
-What do you think your purpose is in life, do you know?
I thought about it for a second and said, "No, I have no clue." We were both quiet for a bit. But then God spoke to my heart and words just started flowing, words that we both needed to hear. People are very confused about what life is really about. It is not about getting up and going to work each day or about hanging out with your friends, you house, your big TV, or any of those other "things". Our purpose in life is to serve God. Plain and simple. Whatever we are given in this life should be used to serve God. Our every day life should be used to worship God and reach out to those who do not know God. We should spend every day "showing" people who God is and touching hearts for Christ. How enlightening this is!! Jesse said something about there being people who are destined for GREAT things. And yes I believe that this is true. There are people in this world that God blesses to do amazing things, but these great things should glorify God and bring people to Christ. "With great power comes great responsibility" said Spiderman's uncle LOL.
So...what is my purpose? My purpose in life is to be a Godly wife and mother. To raise my boys to know the real purpose in life. To do my daily work for the Lord and make sure that it brings Him glory. To help those in need and show the love of God to everone that I come in contact with.
We both thought about this for a bit. Then the Lord spoke to my heart again and a verse came to mind. It is from Psalm 127. I have always loved the verse, but was not real sure what it meant. Here is what, I believe, God spoke to my heart. It is verse 1, "Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who built it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain." I was confused by this verse. I know that the house would get built and the city would be guarded whether some one built it with or without God. So I could not figure it out. This is what God pressed onto my heart. You can build your house, career, family, possessions or bank account, but if you do it without God then it is all in vain. There is no purpose to it. It will not bring GOD glory and will not reach out to others to receive Christ. But...if you let God build all of these things then they will bring glory to God and bear much fruit for God, and that is the whole purpose, right? I believe that everyon's purpose in life is to use the gifts, abilities, and circumstances that God has given them to serve Him. I believe that if we do this all will be well with us. "Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord. Who walks in His ways. When you eat the labor of your hands, You sall be happy, and it shall be well with you." Psalm 128:1-2.
So....what is your purpose?
